Halloween 2023 Home Tour

Welcome, Foolish Mortals… It’s our Annual Halloween Home Tour Day, and we can’t wait for you to see this year’s setup!

Can you believe that we’ve now spent more Halloweens in our ‘new’ home than we had in our former apartment? Time really does fly when you’re having frightful fun! And though we love how our place looks throughout the year (seriously, it does not get witchier than our spring setup!), there’s just no denying that it comes alive during Halloween. As we’ve settled in, more and more of our decorations have found a home, too, so decorating becomes less daunting each time even though it’s still quite the undertaking, as we’re sure you all can imagine!

As we talked about on our last DI-Friday, we actually decorated outside this year! While we’ve always at least put pumpkins out on the porch, we went all out this year with Devin’s DIY Lighted Pumpkin Arch. We are still so thrilled with how well it turned out, and had to finish the porch with our annual haul of pumpkins and corn stalks, purple lights and lanterns, and a collection of little ghosts rising up from our front flower beds. We’ve always joked that we never decorated the outside because we’re not out there very often to see it, but it turned out so good we keep catching ourselves, coming up with reasons to go out the front door so we can take in that faBOOlous Halloween glow!

Meanwhile, we found ourselves with new spaces to decorate inside this year, too! We gave our office a total overhaul back in January, complete with an accent wall painted “Wizard’s Potion” purple, so it was very ready for Halloween décor. The spooky art in each of the gallery walls behind our desks is up year-round, but we found the top of the bookshelf to be a perfect place to display some of the overflow decorations from the main living space. (And yes, we did specifically pick the wall color because it had Wizard’s name in it!) Then, in our bedroom, we were excited to hang our spooky canopy above the bed once again, with the extra long strand of fairy lights, going back-and-forth across the ceiling, like stars in the night sky that went up over the holidays last year. We also found our room to be the perfect spot to hang The Haunted Mansion décor panels we had picked up earlier in the season, each depicting one of the four stretching portraits from the ride.

Beyond that, we continued playing with lighting this year, opting to mix and match various Halloween colors on our LED up lights and throughout our spaces. From the outside, you can see a progression from purple to orange to bright green lights that is undeniably full of Halloween spirit! We added LED light towers to the neon witch hat in the bedroom along with the purple chandelier string lights that are strung over the entryway. There’s even a light up sign in the kitchen this year! Our favorite part, though, still has to be the glow of the pumpkin pails that are once again hanging from the loft over our main living space. With flickering, battery-operated candles casting light from each pail, our October evenings have been nothing short of magical!

So welcome back again, spooky friends! We’ve got a kettle on the stove, snacks ready to go, and the tour is just getting underway!
